Dark Horse’s Dark Matter gets picked up by Syfy

Ready to get lost in space? The new(ish) space-faring mini-series from Dark Horse Comics titled Dark Matter will be adapted to TV by Syfy.

If you’re not familiar with the book, which just wrapped up its first few issues with a graphic novel, Dark Matter features a crew who’s awakened from cryo-sleep lacking one very important thing- their memories. Adrift in the heavens, the crew has to work together to take on new threats, survive their odd situation, and uncover the truth of what happened to them in the first place.

It’s a pretty neat little tale and one that merges several classic sci-fi themes with a new bent. Adding further science fiction creed to the project are writers Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie, both veterans of the fan-favorite Stargate franchise. Both writers will be hard at work on the TV series as well, which so far has a 13 episode commitment from the channel.

So if you dug Stargate, then chances are you’re going to want to give Dark Matter a shot.
