E3 2014: Star Wars Battlefront returns, looks CGI-quality

While the footage shown at EA’s press conference was extremely early (extremely), it was nonetheless spectacular looking and an almost religious experience for long time (and long suffering) series fans.

Granted, there wasn’t a ton of in-game footage in that ‘behind the scenes’ montage, but what there was looks stunning. It seems like the high amount of research that developer DICE has put into the game is paying off big time too with some of the most highly-detailed looking Star Wars ships, troops, and units that’ve ever been seen in a game.

If fans have been waiting with baited breath for something, anything, Battlefront related since the last game in the series was abruptly cancelled, then it’s hard to imagine they’re disappointed by what was seen today. Don’t look for release dates as of yet, but it’s coming. I can almost hear the imperial march now…
