Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate HD announced for consoles and PC

The handheld title is coming to consoles and the PC in HD form.

Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate was a whole different adventure than its big brother on consoles when it was released last October. The game plays like a classic Metroidvania-style title and features a story set within the wall soy Blackgate prison and that takes place after Arkham Origins, but before the rest of the games in the series. So in other words, Batman is still a rather young hero in Blackgate and a touch rough around the edges. That said, the Dark Knight still has all his wonderful toys and fighting ability.

As for this new HD edition of Blackgate, there are some pretty big differences from what was released before. Coming out of the same developer who handled the portable edition of the game, Armature Studios, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate – Deluxe Edition will feature the HD-upgrade to its 2.5D graphics that you’d expect along with a new map and hint system (that’ll reportedly make object tracking an easier affair) as well as 5.1 surround sound support. The game will also feature all of the extra costumes from the Vita and 3DS release with the added bonus of the ‘Zero Year’ suit (unlocked by linking your WBID) from the current year one tale being told in the pages of the Batman comic book by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo.

If you missed it on the handhelds, here’s another chance to get in on the riot and bust up Blackgate prison as Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate – Deluxe Edition is set to hit the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and PC on April 1st for $19.99 USD.
