Red Dragon takes Wargame to the Eastern Front

The sequel to Wargame AirLand Battle brings the RTS action to central Asia in the ’75 through 1991 eras for some old school military conflicts.

The original game in this series, AirLand Battle, kind of took us off guard here at BG last year. Not so with Red Dragon though since we know all about the incredible mix of real-time strategy and stunning looks that Eugen Systems and developer Eutechnyx has forged with this young series.

Red Dragon takes the late 70’s to early ’90s military action of the Cold War era to the east where players will get to wage war across the Asian continent, take command of five new nations (including in China and Korea) and control over 450 new units for a total of 1300. Let that sink in for a second. 450 new units. 1300 units in general. And as was evident in AirLand Battle, those units will all be meticulously crafted and beautifully rendered.

Also much like the first game in the series, this one’s a bit of a double-header. The solo campaign plunges gamers into a war “in and around” Korea, while the multiplayer presents a massive 20 player play field where each player can be all-in or take on a specific role like being the “artillery commander or the air commander”. How rad is that?

Look for much more on Wargame Red Dragon as we get a little further along in 2014. There’s no release date or announced platform as of yet (PC is a sure bet), but we’ll keep you up to date.

About Jason Micciche

Jason's been knee deep in videogames since he was but a lad. Cutting his teeth on the pixely glory that was the Atari 2600, he's been hack'n'slashing and shoot'em'uping ever since. Mainly an FPS and action guy, Jason enjoys the occasional well crafted title from every genre.
