Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare headed to Xbox One/360 this February

The popular series goes all-action for some Garden Warfare on the Xbox line of consoles this Winter.

“Gamers across the world have fallen in love with the Plants vs. Zombies characters and now they’ll get to see them in an entirely new light,” said Brian Lindley, Producer on Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare. “Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare give the series’ fans and shooter players a fun, new experience that they’ll both enjoy as they blast, chomp and laugh their way through co-op and head-to-head online action.”

Don’t be fooled by the cartoony looks, PvZ Garden Warfare is a surprisingly full-featured multiplayer shooter. Powered by the Frostbite 3 engine, the game will include 12 on 12 modes like Garden & Graveyards and Team Vanquish, as well as the four player co-op mode – Garden Ops.

In Garden & Graveyards, plants must defend their garden bases from zombies attempting to turn them into spooky graveyards. Players can also square off in Team Vanquish as they try to send the other team to the compost pile. For gamers that just want to have a fun time with their friends, they can work together in Garden Ops battling off waves of zombies on the attack.

The Xbox One version of the game will also have some extra goodies for fans to sink their fangs into with both local co-op (split screen) and Boss Mode included. The local co-op is kind of self-explanatory, but the Boss Mode is really neat. One player becomes the boss of their team in this mode and takes command through SmartGlass. The boss can drop supplies, intel, revive stations and even call in air-strikees through a top-down interface and overhead view of the maps. And of course, the Xbox One version of the game is probably going to look a heck of a lot better than the 360 edition too- but that was probably kind of obvious.

Look for both the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One edition of EA’s Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare to be on shelves this coming February; just the thing for a cold Winter’s day. A PC version is also in the works, but there’s no release date as of yet for that one.
