The Battlefield 4 Beta is go (and has a trailer)

Suit up and prepare for battle on the Xbox 360 and PS3 right now. Update: Now with 100% more trailer.

Open today to all players, whether you pre-ordered the game or not, is the official console and PC Beta for Battlefield 4. PS3 and Xbox 360 players need only log onto their respective online services and get to downloading to play, while PC gamers should point their browsers over to EA’s online gaming hub Origin to begin their own downloads.

The DICE developed game will show players the power of the Frostbite 3 engine in action in the Beta and give you the chance to see some the new stuff that the developer has brought to the table for the fourth entry in the long running FPS series. Among those additions are the Conquest mode’s large-scale battles, the “adrenaline-fueled mayhem” of Domination mode and Levolution; which actually changes the map in big ways as you play.

Also new to the series is the Battlepack system. Battlepacks deliver “random combinations of new camos, dog tags and more” that you can earn for your character just by playing through the multiplayer portion of the game.

So the Beta is available right now, but the full Battlefield 4 game will be available for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC (via Origin) on October 29th. Looking for the Xbox One and/or PS4 version? Those will launch on November 22nd and November 15th respectively- and don’t forget that you can upgrade to the next-gen version for about $9.99 even if you buy the current generation edition. Find out more about that here.
