The Hobbit, an unexpected toy line

Yes Tolkien fans, The Hobbit will indeed be on the receiving end of some pretty cool action figure goodness. Goblin King anyone?

With the toys from the Lord of the Rings film series having come from the now defunct Toy Biz (at least, I think they’re defunct…) I wasn’t really all that sure if the property was going to see a set of ‘action figures’ per say- but here we are.

Coming to you from a smaller company called The Bridge Direct, these toys look every bit as detailed and accurate as the older line- they should make both collectors and kids very happy.

Just unveiled today are a pair of ‘battle packs’. The first features everybody’s favorite super-elf Legolas (paired with Tauriel) and the second showcasing a match-up of man versus (bloated) goblin with Thorin taking on the Goblin King.

Both sets are part of a much larger lineup that will include both 3.75″ and 6″ offerings. You can expect to see a bunch of other characters from the upcoming movie as well (and presumably the remaining two movies in the prequel trilogy)- the full listing of the initial lineup is below for your perusal.
