Contrary to reports earlier in the week, Capcom has issued a statement saying that they have no plans to release either a demo or beta of Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City prior to the game’s launch on March 20th.
The original report came from a Joystiq interview with the game’s producer who stated, “Obviously there are some camera issues and stuff, but we’re nearing a pretty solid beta, which will be out early next year.”
Capcom has since taken to the Capcom Unity blog to announce that the quote was misreported and they have no plans for a beta or demo next year. Capcom’s full statement is posted below:
“There has been some media coverage this week stating Capcom will run a public beta and release a demo for its upcoming title Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City. Unfortunately this was due to a website misreporting what was said during an interview.”
“Although we will not be releasing a consumer demo or hosting a beta there will be plenty of opportunities for fans to play the game before it releases on March 20th in North America and March 23rd in Europe. Stay tuned to Capcom-Unity and Capcom Europe for more information on our upcoming first to play community events for Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City.”
