600K Former Subscribers Have Kicked the WoW Crack Habit

During Activision Blizzard’s earnings call yesterday Blizzard’s president Mike Morhaime revealed that World of Warcraft subscription levels now stand at 11.4 million users. Last October the company was bragging on passing 12 million subscribers, so this news basically means there has been at least 600,000 drop in subscriptions.

This is troubling for Activision Blizzard because the drop comes just a few months after the release of the Cataclysm expansion pack. While it’s unlikely that this is the start major doom and gloom news for WoW, it is a noticeable dip in the MMO’s track record.
