World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Gets a Release Date

Blizzard finally names the date of the next expansion.

After a lot of recent speculation, Blizzard have finally confirmed the official release date for the third World of Warcraft expansion, Cataclysm.  It has been scheduled for release in the US and Europe on December 7th.

The new expansion will see the two original continents of Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms reshaped, with updated graphics and new features to most of the existing zones.  In addition, the level cap will be raised to 85 and a set of new zones, some of which were in the world but not reachable by conventional means and were featureless, have been added.  There are also 2 new playable races with new starting zones, with the Alliance getting the Worgen and the Horde getting goblins.

If you’ve been looking forward to this, now would be the time to book some time off work and prepare yourself.
