Next Sonic game to star Sonic… and ONLY Sonic
Good news indeed!
It seems SEGA might finally be starting to get what it is people want from a Sonic game. Top of most wishlists is a cull of the unnecessary and downright annoying ancillary cast the blue hedgehog has picked up over the years. The official SEGA blog today wrapped up their character countdown for the incoming title, codenamed ‘Project Needlemouse”. The end result? All characters bar Sonic rejected and confirmed to be absent entirely both as playable and unplayable characters. The blog also showed off some concept art for one of the enemy types that will feature in the new game; a crab that recalls the enemies of the original Mega Drive Sonic games. Overall, promising news then. However, given the mascot’s track record in recent years, it’s going to take alot more than nostalgic throwbacks to win back many of the former superstar’s estranged fans.
