Microsoft wants a slice of the delicious PC digital download pie.

It’s well documented here at Brutal Gamer that we feel Microsoft’s Games On Demand service for the Xbox 360 is a bit overpriced.  But Microsoft have now decided to launch a Games On Demand service for Games For Windows Live on December 15th, as reported by Kotaku.

General manager of LIVE Engagement Services Mike Ybarra said “With Games on Demand, we didn’t just want to create a cut-and-paste version of existing digital distribution services.  We challenged ourselves to deliver an integrated platform that takes full advantage of the unique capabilities offered by the LIVE service. Our goal has always been to create a seamless online gaming experience for the Windows community, and Games on Demand is a great step toward that end.”

It would seem so far that the major difference between Games On Demand and current PC Download services is the use of Microsoft Points as well as real money to buy games.  If this interests you, you can download the Games On Demand client right here.
