Raw September NPD figures – hardware and software
Fanboys beware: You may very well cry from seeing these figures
If you’re that sad you will be. The NPD announced that they would be delayed from last week ’till today, and well… here they are – the NPD figures for September. The figures released cover both hardware and software (no surprise there!), and they’re not the least bit surprising.
Hardware -
In September, we saw the release of Sony’s Playstation 3 Slim which as you can see from the figures, a lot of Americans have been waiting for. The Playstation 3 has sold 491.8k in a single month, beating Microsoft’s Xbox 360 by just under 140,000 units – and all other consoles. I bet Sony are loving this news.
PlayStation 2 146.0K
PlayStation 3 491.8K
PSP 190.4K
Xbox 360 352.6K
Wii 462.8K
Nintendo DS 524.2K
Software –
Another major release we saw in September was Halo 3: ODST which, as you can imagine, has sold an insane amount of units in a single month, in total 1.52 million units. The nearest software sales to ODST was 442,9k and that was Wii Sports Resort.
