A Closer Look At Assassin’s Creed II

We still don’t know a lot about the plot but in the light of some newly released information and screens, we will pull it all together as we take a closer look at Assassin’s Creed II.

What we do know about the plot is that you will play as Ezio, a young noble from the city of Florence. Tragedy befalls his family and Ezio is forced to hide out with the commoners as he tries to uncover the plot that forced him from his station in society. Along the way he will meet and receive help from the likes of thieves, thugs, and harlots.

Oh yeah, and Leonardo de Vinci.

Players will be able to enlist de Vinci and his inventions to help him along his quest. One such invention that has been revealed is the poison blades. The blades will only be able to be used while in low-profile mode and can be used on someone without them noticing. The poison will cause the victim to go berserk and attack anyone in the area before dieing.

The Anvil engine has been give a bit of a boost this time around and will feature a night and day cycle, further load distances for more detail in environments, characters, vegetation and clothing.

Aarchitecture has also received an upgrade allowing more of an interactive experience with the buildings and structures.

I hope you are ready for a good chase.NPC navigation got a bump witch will allow them act more like the main character.

You will enjoy those chases in the new locations that include Florence, Venice, San Gimignano, and the Tuscany region. Mountain regions and wetlands have also been mentioned.

If you were a little put off by the repetitive missions of the first game, you have been assured that you will not be disappointed this time with 16 different mission types. The seemingly useless missions such as pick pocketing and ease dropping are said to have been left behind as well.

Ezio will have more options in his choice of weapons. axes, a hammers, maces, spears, two different sword types, spear axes, and poison blades have been talked about with teases of more to be announced.

Vehicles such as boats to get around the waterways, a horse carriage for the countryside and a glider for the skies will be available for your use.

Throughout the game you will be able to uncover secret locations which will allow you to enter great landmarks. Once inside you can complete challenges in acrobatics, puzzles, and stealth. These quests are not essential to the game but offer details about the war with the Templars and allow players to receive special awards for completing them.

The biggest addition by far comes in the form of an economic system.
You will be able to collect money through various means and use it to buy weapons, ammo, hire factions, receive healing, recharge the poison blades, and upgrade armor.

Armor will not only be upgradeable but also customizable to your color choice.

The animus is back but will contain an extensive database so players not only get the memories of his ancestors but will also be able to get detailed information about key locations.
