A Closer Look At DiRT 2
This week we are taking a closer look at Dirt 2 from Codemasters (Titled “Colin McRae: DiRT 2” everywhere except the US).
With the barrage of new games getting ready to pounce on us in the coming months, I thought it might be a good idea to give a little quality personal time to some of the games to help us all get to know them a little better.
Dirt 2 is an off-road racing game that features both online and single player modes.
The World Tour mode is this games version of a campaign mode that will have players competing against other cars and alone on the track in new locations that include canyons, jungles, and stadiums.
Codemasters recently announced that there will also be X-Games events that take place in Tokyo, London, and LA and will be un-lockable as you complete World Tour Events.
DiRT 2 uses the update EGO Engine (formerly NEON) so expect high end physics, damage effects, and upgraded visuals. Codemasters claims the tracks and vehicles are twice as detailed as those in GRID. You can check out the video and screens to judge for yourself.
DiRT 2 will feature seven classes of fully licensed vehicles. Players will be granted access to the most powerful class and cars (Group N Subaru) of the original game right from the start.
Dirt 2 will be released on September 8th in the US and September 11th in the UK and will be available for 360, PS3, Wii, DS, PSP and PC.
