Blizzard had filed a new trademark.

According to a report on Shacknews, Blizzard have filed a series of game-related trademarks for something called ‘Cataclysm’.  The trademarks cover ‘computer gaming software’, ‘online gaming’ and ‘paper goods’ such as strategy guides.

There have been no further details from Blizzard as to what this new trademark means, but there could be a number of things.  There is the brand new, as yet untitled MMO that Blizzard are working on.  It could also be the title for the next World of Warcraft expansion, which many people, myself included, believe will be announced at this year’s Blizzcon event.  It could also potentially be an entirely new IP.  We’ll just have to wait and see.
