Sounds like Sony are taking a leaf out of Apple’s book as they are rumoured to be bringing apps to the PSP Go.

According to a post over at Destructoid, Sony wants publishers to create smaller “non-retail” games and apps.  There will be a file size of 100MB and Sony will allow free apps as well as a tiered pricing structure believed to be somwhere between $2-$6.

There would be an update to the current PlayStation Store to accomodate the changes.  It is believed that Sony will officially unveil this plan at Gamescon in Germany in August, with apps and games to be ready by the end of this year.  What with the PSP Go being UMD free and having a decent sized memory, this seems like it could be a natural step, especially given how successful the iPhone/iPod Touch apps are.
