Some interesting* information from Sony during CES
Oh Sony, you do know how to make me giggle, don’t you? Please don’t stop, carry on with your crappy quotes.
Two lovely facts for you, the first one being:
- There is now over 17 million PSN accounts
Why does this fact make me laugh? Well, I’ll tell you. This isn’t actually a unique number, meaning this counts all users who have multiple accounts. If they gave me a number which was ‘we have XXX number of consoles online’ I wouldn’t be mocking it, but when I know most people have 3 or 4 PSN accounts for the multiple different stores available, it’ll be counting them too. I mean, I personally have 3 accounts (UK, America and Japan) and I know a crap-tonne of people who are exactly the same.
Second lovely fact from our dear friend Stringer:
- The combined number of units sold from the PSP and PS3 is 61 million.
Didn’t we at the end of last year get figures that the PSP had sold something like 41 million units, and that was in August of last year. Them figures easily could of hit the 44 million units because of Christmas. So lets say the PSP has sold 44 million units, lets subtract that from the 61 million units that they’ve apparently sold, leaves us with 17 million PS3 units. Is Sony really ashamed at how low the sales figures are for the PS3 that they don’t want to include it as a separate figure? Why don’t they through in the PS2 and PS1 total units in there too, it’ll make it sound even more impressive!
