Sources from major game retailers GAME and Gamestation are reporting that sales for the latest SKU in the Xbox 360’s lineup have been slower than anticipated.
A source from GAME said “the 60GB sales have been sluggish”.
Both models are surprisingly the same price in the majority of stores with no lower price tag to follow in order to allow a discontinuation of the older model. Instead, they will just let “old” stock go for the same price as a 60GB model. A strange tactic it seems.
He added: “Microsoft expected a demand for the 60GB model but it just hasn’t come yet.”
A source from Gamestation also reported lower than expected sales but insisted they “are still selling ok but just not at the rate Microsoft had wanted.”
We will have to wait until official sales information is released before confirmation.
The GAME source also said that the new PS3 SKU will debut in the UK tomorrow rather than the listed date of 29/8 and that the stock had already arrived; a move not surprising considering the many contradictory release dates given.
