Bionic Commando: ReArmed – First Impressions
Capcom unleashed the pent-up media-pleasing puma that is Bionic Commando: Rearmed yesterday on XBLA and the US and Asian PSN stores (Thanks for the UK release SCEE – NOT!). So after waiting the obligatory 20 minutes for the 350MB download I loaded it up and immediately remembered playing Bionic Commando back in the 8-bit days… but was that a good or bad thing?
Capcom and Grin have taken the original game – heralded as a classic mainly in the US – and applied a lavish coat of current gen paint to it. The visuals are pleasing if a little garish and the animation mechanic is very good indeed. Not wanting to stray down the route of a full review I will just say that it played well enough, the grapple mechanic works well also.
I unfortunately remembered after playing for five minutes that I used to hate the original
With that said this was entertaining enough and I will return to it to see what more it has too offer at a future date. Basically, download it and give it a try and see what you think – if your old enough to remember the first and liked it then you should find this a pretty safe bet.
